Road to link sinja,Origin of Nepali language

People of Sinja, where Nepali (Khas) language is believed to have originated, are happy that work is underway to build a road linking the historic place to the Karnali Highway. A 91-kilometre road from Nagma-Gamgadi Section of Karnali Highway, being built with the efforts of Nepal Army, would pass through this historic Valley. The road begins from Nagma of Jumla and ends at Gamgadhi, the district headquarters of Mugu. Sinja valley lies in the middle. The NA shouldered up the responsibility to build the road three years ago and has so far completed 44 kilometres. It is expected that the construction work would be completed by next fiscal year. NA personnel are now working on the section between Laha (44 km) and Jiya village (57 km). Once the road is completed, the Rara, the largest lake of Nepal, will be accessible by road thereby promoting it as an important destination for both domestic and international tourists. Currently, there is no other means of transportation except domestic flight to reach Rara. Trekking to the lake is not easy. The Talcha Airport located at the height of 11,000 ft is the only airport in Mugu district. Sinja valley locals have expected regular service of vehicles in the area once the road comes into operation. "Road transportation will make it easy for us to market our local products while it will also help reduce the prices of everyday commodities," locals said. Sinja locals presently rely on porters or air transport for everyday items and sale of their products at a higher price. "We are very happy that we will soon be connected by road," Surya Junga Hamal, a local of Sinja-5, said. "We feel like the heaven has landed on the earth." "We have to walk by foot for nine to 10 days to reach Nepalgunj to buy salt, and paddy and must return home following the same route," Hamal said. One bus has started transporting goods after the completion of work on 44 kilometres in the area. "The bus service has made it easier for us to sell our local goods like apple, potato, maize, phapar, okhar, herbs and beans in Nepalgunj, Surkhet and other markets," Reli Sikarmi, 66, said. "We are proud that Nepal Army brothers are dedicated to completing the task at the earliest," Kali Bahadur Shahi said. Earlier, the NA completed Surkhet-Jumla link road along the Karnali Highway. Major of NA engineering section Sanjaya K.C said about 100 meters of rocky mountains were in the way. "Once we blast the rocks and open up the way, the 44 kilometers section up to Laha will be completed soon," he said. "If the weather and budget favour us, we are determined to complete the responsibilities by Mid November of 2011 by reaching Gamgadi, the district headquarters of Mugu," Major K.C said. The government had so far allocated Rs. 30 million (2064/65), Rs. 115 million (2065/66), and Rs. 170 million (2066/67) to build the road. In the current fiscal year of 2067/68, the NA had demanded Rs. 210 million, but only Rs. 87.4 million was sanctioned. The NA constructed about 235 kilometers Surkhet-Mangma road section linking Jumla in the Karnali region. It is expected to come into operation within two years.
